How to stay Disciplined to your Kettlebell Training
A Thought about Accountability
Can you guess what’s the worst habit when trying to reach a goal? You guessed it, Not being consistent. Who’s got time for disappointment? You got to follow through. In today's blog post we will discuss why holding yourself accountable actually gives you an advantage when it comes to reaching your goals. How to develop systems to get you to the finish line and how to stay disciplined to your Kettlebell Training.
The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. So if we want the joy, gratification and temporary satisfaction of achieving a future reward to come sooner rather than later than it is very beneficial to stay on track. To be STEADFAST in your decision to stay at it. To stick to it. We know the only way to jump a bridge is to build up some momentum. You always see the Daredevil slam the pedal to the metal. If you set a goal worth achieving then at some point you are going to have to blast through or kick down a wall. Developing in your kettlebell practice is no different. You are not going to be able to build up to that next wight unless you stay consistent and most of all, KeeP TryinG.
Accountability means preventing something from going wrong.
Our time is precious. We want to get the most out of it. So often we need help. Sometimes we are the ones doing the helping. Or my favorite, sometimes we are working together as a team or Partners. This is my favorite because when fulfillment is reached the enjoyment is shared. In any case, it is necessary to establish an accord. This understanding can be your secret weapon because of some natural hard wiring in our subconscious. Some hard wiring that might motivate you to do a bit more than you would have if you made the agreement solely with yourself.
Webster’s Dictionary defines “accountability” as “the quality or state of being accountable; an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one’s actions.”
Where might that edge, or extra motivation come from? From our Self Expression, Archetype, or Character. If we say we are going to do something than to not do it is almost like lying. There is a consequence in the form of guilt. People who care about how they are viewed and received don’t want to say something that they don’t mean so now Accountability has been created. So Cool. Now you can take this a step further by Create a Buddy System. This system is fantastic because while Cultivating Enthusiasm you can also strengthen bonds which will increase that Shared Fulfillment and Future Reward. This stuff of Life isn’t fun if you’re just trying to prove something. It’s just an opportunity to witness magic. If you make that effort to perceive Magnificence with someone you care about or are connected to then there is potential for Explosive Energy. You should try it sometime. Here’s a simple action plan to get you started.
Steps for Creating a Buddy System:
Step
Decide what goal you want to achieve and why
Decide what kind of experience you would like to have on the journey towards this goal, and who would also benefit from such an experience
Identify Steps, Roadmaps, and Milestones, Achievements, and Start date
Take Action!
Now buddy systems are great but that's not what gives you the advantage. Nope. The true advantage goes to the one who takes responsibility for their own actions. If you look to your partner as though they are supposed to get you there then you get no glory. If you we accept that it is up to us to individually attack each and every day with passion than that will build an endurance that lasts a Lifetime. You will have Clarity in your choices and respect for yourself.

What is Accountability, Really?
Really folks. Every day we are faced with Reality and Realizations. Like the realization that ‘Either you Use it, Or you Lose it”. I think that’s why I have respect for Kettlebell Training. Because I take issue with deceit, and I have never been good at pop quizzes. If there is a test coming up, I want to be prepared for it. Kettlebells don’t lie to me. If someone has an underdeveloped Midsection, and poor coordination they are going to let me know immediately. If I am not focused and alert during my workout, I get a “WAKEUP!” call real quick. So Kettlebell training helps you stay accountable by consequence and expectation. You are Expected to practice, and if you don’t there may be consequences. Haha…
